World of Warcraft Mobile Armory
What I Liked Best
While there’s a lot to like about WOW Mobile Armory, there were definitely some features I enjoyed more than others. Being able to see my character’s talent points and then use a built-in talent calculator to play with changes to them was fantastic. I tend to like experimenting with different talent point allocations so now I can lay on the couch and experiment without even having to be sitting at my computer.
As I pointed out earlier, the Calendar page is great too. Sometimes you have a desire to check to see what raid or other stuff might be going on that day but you might not be anywhere near your computer. It’s so nice to be able to pull up the calendar and see what’s going on and what time you might need to keep available for various WOW activities.
And I loved being able to browse through items to see stuff I might be interested in acquiring in-game.

Problems & Headaches
One thing I noticed was an error message that appeared when I tried to pull up a profile of a dwarf hunter I created ages ago but haven’t played in a long, long time. It said “Armory Error…This character profile is currently unavailable due to a long period of inactivity.”
While this didn’t bother me too much I’m not sure why it’s there. Even if you haven’t played a character in a while it should still be in the armory. I think this must just be how the armory itself works rather than a flaw in the iPhone version of it.
And you may also see a message saying that your character is too low to be in the armory.
Beyond that I didn’t have any real problems using World of Warcraft Mobile Armory.

The Verdict
The WOW armory app for iPhone is one of the best iPhone apps I’ve ever seen. Blizzard did a fantastic job of making it look and sound like the game itself and it works tremendously well on the iPhone. I had wondered about the utility value of this app when I first heard of it but, after using it for a while, it will definitely be staying on my iPhone.
World of Warcraft Mobile Armory is simply a must-have iPhone or iPod Touch app for all WOW gamers. Frankly, I think Blizzard could have gotten away with charging .99 cents for this app if they’d wanted to but I guess that’s not necessary since they make so much money on the game itself. But it’s good enough that I would have considered buying it just to have it on my iPhone. It’s definitely a keeper that you will want to have with you as long as you are playing World of Warcraft.
