iPhone OS 3.0 Review
Shake To Shuffle
This OS update now lets you shake your iPhone to shuffle songs in your iPod content. I started playing a song by Zeppelin and shook my iPhone in the middle of it. Sure enough, a new song came on. Nice!
Let’s face it, this isn’t exactly going to make any of us more productive. But it’s damn fun. I suggest that those of you who are hyped up on caffeine or buzzed out on beer be careful not toinadvertently hurl your iPhone through the air while trying to use the Shake to Shuffle feature.
Caution is in order. Heh, heh.
YouTube Login
YouTube is extremely popular and you can now login to your YouTube account. You can save and sync bookmarks and rate favorites. You can also read YouTube comments.
I have a YouTube account though I can’t say that I use it a whole lot. But I had no problems logging into it or otherwise using YouTube. This upgrade is definitely a nice tough for YouTube users, however.

The Verdict About iPhone OS 3.0
It’s clear that some of the features in this update should have been included on the original iPhone operating system. But what’s in the past is in the past. There’s no doubt about it that this is a hugely important upgrade to the iPhone’s operating system feature set.
Apple has done a good job in providing a lot of necessary features in this release. It’s well worth downloading and, since it’s totally free for iPhone users, it is definitely a must-have upgrade. iPod Touch owners will have to pay a small fee but it’s well worth it.
All in all, I give iPhone OS 3.0 a big thumps up. I just wish it hadn’t take so long to get here.

Good review. Did you have any other problems with the upgrade other than having to disconnect you internet connection? Is there an exact time when the disconnect is necessary, and are there any caveats to the disconnect? (Btw, is the bird on the phone in the article a Pionus?
)
Hi Grey Bird,
I can’t remember the exact timing of the disconnect. However, I don’t think it should be a problem any more. I think it was just because of the rush of people on the day the upgrade was released. It should be fine now.
The bird is a brown head parrot. His name is Bilbo and he’s a terrific little guy. However, he frequently invades my work area to chew on my keyboard, the wires behind my computer and the wire on the cord on my trackball. He has a plastic fetish big time and can’t get enough of it to chew. So I must manage him carefully. Heh, heh.
