Ultimate Fart Machine

In one of my earlier reviews I took a look at iFart, one of the most popular apps around right now for the iPhone. This time around I’ll be looking at the Ultimate Fart Machine from, LoL Software.

UFM has a very different interface than iFart Mobile. When you first start the app you’ll notice that the app displays a lot of clip art icons. To hear a fart just click on the clip art that represents the sound of the fart.

You can click the navigation arrows below the clip art to scroll through the following categories of farts:

To the Point
Let Em Rip
Epic
My Farts Bank 1
My Farts Bank 2
My Farts Bank 3

Each of the first three categories contains 9 different kinds of farts for a grand total of 27 farts. Not enough for you? Then note that you can also record your own farts and add them to your fart bank. Yep, now you can bank the sound of your farts for posterity right in your iPhone.

As with iFart Mobile you can also choose to use a delay. You can choose to delay your fart for up to 60 minutes with the Ultimate Fart Machine. Plenty of time to shock or annoy your friends and family with a nasty fart.

The Verdict About The Ultimate Fart Machine
Overall, it’s the Ultimate Fart Machine is a good app that’s pretty much on par with iFart Mobile with one exception, you can’t Fart A Friend. This is a new feature that was just delivered in an update to iFart Mobile so it wasn’t in my review but using it lets you basically send an email to a friend with a link to your fart. They click the link and hear the sound of the fart you sent them. It would be nice if this were available for UFM too.

Fart your brains out with your iPhone or iPod Touch!

Like iFart Mobile, UFM also suffers from a lack of a fart playlist. Rather than having to keep pressing individual farts, I want the ability to string them together into playlists so that I can hear multiple fart sounds with one simple click.

I suppose there are those out there reading this who might say that I am nitpicking both fart apps on the playlist issue but I regard it as basic and important fart functionality. Why should a user have to keep clicking to hear a fart? He ought to be able to savor a volley of rapid-fire farts one after another with little or no effort.

One other thing that I noticed that I didn’t care for was when I used the delay timer. When I clicked the fart I wanted the screen shifted from the UFM interface to a black screen. I guess that’s to hide the fact that UFM is running but I didn’t care for that. Perhaps some kind of fake version of the real iPhone interface might work better?

All in all, I liked the Ultimate Fart Machine. It will be very interesting to see which fart app adds the fart playlist functionality first that I mentioned earlier.

So which one should you buy? If Fart A Friend doesn’t matter to you then either app will do and your decision will probably come down to which interface you prefer. I like both of them actually and I don’t think you can go wrong with either app.

I’d have to say that UFM’s interface is cooler but we’re talking about fart apps here so I’m not sure how much aesthetics really matter when it comes to having a few laughs. Besides, both apps are priced at $0.99 so if you’re really into farts then you might want to buy both of them and enjoy the various fart sounds that each of them has to offer.

The more farts, the better.

Application: Ultimate Fart Machine
Size: 4.1MB
Download Link: iTunes Store
Price: $0.99
The Good: Unique clip art icon fart interface, lets you record your farts and bank them to savor later on.
The Bad: Does not have a fart playlist feature and lacks the Fart A Friend feature found in iFart Mobile.
The Verdict: Another good fart app that provides a lot of laughs at a very reasonable price.
Score: 3.5
