i.TV 1.2
Keeping track of what TV shows are on or what movies are going to be released can be a headache for those of us who can’t be bothered looking up information via the web or by wading through our cable company’s awful guide menus. i.TV from Brad Pelo helps turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into an information-packed entertainment guide.
i.TV lets you search or browse more than 144,000 movie and TV show listings. You also have access to the 100,000 title Netflix DVD library and you can manage your Netflix queue. You can find out where movies are playing locally in more than 5,000 theaters and you can opt to buy a ticket right from your iPhone.
This version of i.TV also adds Tivo integration that lets you record TV shows onto your Tivo DVR right from your iPhone. You can also watch more than 6,000 TV show previews and movie trailers. And i.TV gives you links to Wikipedia articles, movie and TV show reviews and lets you share your TV and movie info with friends and family.
Wow. Not bad for a free app eh? But how easy is it to use? And how useful is it on an everyday basis?
Interface & What’s Hot
The i.TV app interface is broken down into the following sections:
What’s Hot
TV
Movies
My Media
More
What’s Hot gives you access to news, recaps, hot info and what’s new in i.TV’s features. The news I read included interesting tidbits about Tom Brady’s possible wedding, Beyonce singing at the upcoming inauguration and the death of Soprano’s actor John Costello (Johnny Cakes).
I didn’t find the recaps information particularly useful as it was just a blurb about a show called Shadow Force. The Hot tab also didn’t have much information that I was interested in but I suspect these features will get better over time.
Enjoy the blog? Feel free to leave a tip by buying me a cup of coffee. Thanks!

Jim-Thanks for the review! Just so you know, we actually do have streaming content available via i.TV. For example, we have a selection of full episodes from shows like Frasier, Scrubs, and others. We are adding more every day. At the moment, we even have the movie, Elf available in its entirety.
There is one caveat though. Currently you have to scroll through all the listings before you find a little blue play button that indicates that a stream is available. We are working on a solution to make it much easier for users to find which streams are currently available.
Aaaah, okay. Thanks for the correction, Justin. That’s good to know.
