A while back I took a look at the free app Fake-A-Call and gave it a thumbs up. Now there’s another app that does more or less the same thing with an added twist: MMS text messaging.

GottaGo is another in a line of prank apps that actually have a purpose: to liberate you from embarrassing or annoying situations. GottaGo does this by pretending to make a fake phone call or send you a fake text message. You can then presumably tell whoever it is that’s bothering you that you must take the call or act on the text message, thus getting you out of whatever bad social situation you currently are in.

I give GottaGo credit for having an extremely simple interface. When you first start the app you see the timer that can be set for up to about 60 minutes. Just choose when you want your call to come and then click the blue Gotta Go! button.

Note that you can also click the Settings button too. That lets you choose between call mode or fake text messaging in the GottaGo mode settings. Or you can click Call Settings to choose from a wider range of customizations:

You can also opt to use your own ring tones or choose the iPhone’s standard ring tones for greater believability. And you can also customize your in-call settings by using your own in-call audio.
