Bread and Milk (1.4)

I have to admit that I am not a very organized shopper when it comes to buying groceries. In fact, I’m rather scatter brained. Sometimes I remember what I need and other times I have to make another trip because I forgot something. I suppose I could write lists but then I’d have to find a pen and jot something down on a piece of paper.
Bread and Milk from Jim Holloway aims to end shopping problems for disorganized goobers like me. The app lets you easily create grocery lists on your iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPod Touch. When you first state Bread and Milk you’ll notice that there are five tabs at the bottom of the screen:
Make List
Go Shopping
Send
Cart Total
Help
Make List lets you choose the items you want to add to your list from various item groups. You can browse items by group such as Bakery, Canned Foods, Deli orSeafood . Or you can choose to scroll through a complete list of items (154 is the default total number of items available) and simply click the name of the item to add it to your list.
Don’t worry about there not being enough items to cover all your shopping needs, you can always add another one by clicking the + button at the top of the screen. When you add an item you can type in its name, price, description and make it appear in whichever groups you want. You can also opt to create new groups.
The Make List screen also lets you see your already purchased items, previous checkout items and items that aren’t in any group. Plus it also has hidden groups such as Bank, Gas Station, Pharmacy, Post Office and The Usual.
The Go Shopping screen shows you what’s on your current list and allows you to add it to your car by simply clicking the name of the item. After making sure that you’ve obtained each item you can choose to click Checkout which will allow you to remove those items from your list since you’re done with your shopping.
The Send screen simply lets you opt to email your shopping list by using the Mail application on your iPhone. I’m not sure who I’d want to mail my shopping list to but, hey, it’s nice to have the ability to do so if I wanted to. I tested this feature and was able tosuccessfully email myself my shopping list.
The Cart Total screen lets you see a rough total of what you will be spending when you finally hit the checkout line at the grocery store. The number displayed there is dependent on the prices that you type Bread and Milk for each item. If you don’t type anything in then all you will see is a question mark on that tab at the bottom of the screen.
The Help screen provides a link to the app’s support site and explains what each type of button is on the app. It also shows the version of the app and the usual copyright notice.
