#8 iTalk Recorder

Recording audio messages is something that inevitably comes in handy for all iPhone users. Yes you could type it in via your on-screen keyboard but why bother if you just want to note something quickly and with a minimum of fuss?

iTalk Recorder is the free version of the iTalk Recorder Premium app. iTalk lets you choose your recording quality (Good, Better, Best) but beware as the better the quality the more space it will take up on your iPhone 3G. You can name your audio files and iTalk Recorder will show you the date the file was recorded, the length, the quality as well as the file size and format.

Sooner or later you’re probably going to want to record an audio message to yourself for later reference and iTalk Recorder is a great way to do it.

#7 i.TV

Trying to keep track of what’s on TV or at the movies can be a pain in the rear end. i.TV turns your iPhone into an entertainment oracle that lets you browse and search more than 144,000 TV and movie listings along with Netflix’s 100,000 DVD archive.

i.TV also integrates well with Netflix as you can add TV shows or movies to your Netflix queue (you’ll need a Netflix membership first) and you can use the My Media tab to manage your Netflix queue.

You’ll also get local movie information, show descriptions, show previews, movie trailers and links to Wikipedia articles along with pics and celebrity bio information. Hey who can live without knowing all kinds of stuff about celebrity airheads right? You can also write reviews of movies and shows you like.

There’s an immense amount of value in i.TV for movie and TV junkies who just can’t get enough and want it on the go via their iPhone 3Gs.

#6 Backgrounds

As human beings we all like to feel that we are unique individuals and what better way to express your individuality than customizing your iPhone 3G? Backgrounds lets you download a wide range of wallpaper for your iPhone. As of this writing there were more than 1000 different wallpapers available but even more might have been added by the time you read this.

Backgrounds lets you choose wallpaper from a number of different categories. There are far too many categories to list here but there’s a few:

People

Buildings

Animals

Movies

Sports

Christmas
