No matter who you are or where you live sooner or later you’ll have to contend with your local weather. And what better way to do that then with a neat, free app from the folks at The Weather Channel Interactive? These guys know how to report the weather because it’s what they do better than just about anybody else.

The Weather Channel weighs in at .7MB and lets you easily find weather information for any location. The app’s interface is broken up into tabs:

Explore Map
Video
Severe
More

The Weather tab shows your current, hourly, 36 hour and 10 day weather forecasts. You can easily change locations by clicking the Locations button at the top of your screen. The default will be your current location. The Locations page will also let you easily search by zip code or click to refresh your current location. And you can access whatever bookmarks you have as well.

The Explore Maps page lets you see a weather map. What’s really nice about this though is that you can click the information link in the lower right hand corner to choose the layers you want to appear on the map. The default is Radar but you can choose from the following layers:

Radar
Clouds
Radar/Clouds
Temperature
Feels Like
24-Hour Rainfall
24-Hour Snowfall
UV Index
