Shazam

After you tag the music you can click your tagged music and then choose to buy the music from the iTunes store. Obviously in my case I already owned the music so buying it again had no appeal for me. But I can see it being quite handy if I had heard something while I was out and about that I wanted to listen to again.
I was also pleased to see that there was a link to videos on YouTube as well under the More Tag Options. I was able to watch the video for Mick Jagger’s “God Gave Me Everything” video as well as a live video recording of Marilyn Manson’s “The Dope Show.” The YouTube feature works very well on an iPhone 3G and lets you experience a bit more than just listening to the song.
There’s also the option to Manage the Tag. Under this section you can take a photo and attach it to the tag. Or you can attach an album photo to the tag or choose to share the tag via email. And of course you can simply delete the tag if you decide you don’t want to keep it any more.
As I said, I was skeptical about how well Shazam would work. But I’ve become a convert after using it for a while. If you’re any kind of music fan Shazam is definitely something worth keeping on your iPhone 3G. And since the app is only .5MB you won’t have to worry about it taking up too much space.
Application: Shazam
Download Link: iTunes Store
Price: Free
The Good: Lets you easily tag music you hear wherever you are and lets you buy it right from the iTunes store. Also provides YouTube links for some songs.
The Bad: Doesn’t offer an alternative to iTunes for song purchases.
The Verdict: Shazam hits the spot when it comes to tagging music. It would be worth paying a nominal fee to use but since it’s free it’s an even better deal.
