Have you ever been riding in your car or walking down the street and heard a great song? You don’t know the name of it but you sure wish you did so you could buy the song or album later. Well we’ve all been in that situation before and it stinks if you can’t quite find the song later on after you get home.

Well Shazam for your iPhone 3G will make sure that you never miss out on buying a good song again. Shazam lets you identify music on TV, on the radio, in a film or wherever you happen to hear it. You simply need to click the “Tag Now” button andShazam will begin to listen to the music you’re hearing and it will try to identify it for you.

Frankly I was initially very skeptical about Shazam. I am not much of a music aficionado so I generally don’t care which song is which unless I hear something outstanding. But, for the purposes of this review, I tested Shazam by tagging music that I had in iTunes.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Shazam had no trouble finding out song information for Marilyn Manson, AC/DC, Mick Jagger, Led Zeppelin and Velvet Revolver. All I did was hold my iPhone so it could listen to the music andShazam identified the music for me.

Obviously these are all fairly popular artists so your mileage may vary if you find some really obscure piece of music. At that pointShazam may or may not be able to identify it for you. But, given my musical tastes, Shazam worked well for me.
