With Thanksgiving just around the corner as I write this, how appropriate that Turkey Hunt has just been released for the iPhone 3G. Turkey Hunt, from Jirbo Inc, lets you tap your iPhone to shoot down some delicious, plump turkeys for your Thanksgiving day feast!

Shoot down plump, juicy turkeys!

Turkey Hunt is a very simple game. You literally just tap the screen as delectable butterball type turkeys bounce around all over your screen. There’s not a whole lot more to the game than that. And some people who are expecting a lot more will be disappointed that there’s not more depth to the game.

I disagree with that point of view, however. One of the challenges that iPhone 3G game designers face is how to design games that don’t require a lot of attention or time to play. Let’s face it, most of us want games we can load up and play for a few minutes a sitting. We don’t necessarily want stuff that takes forever to play or requires a large time commitment.

Remember that we’re talking about mobile gaming here not sitting in front of your juiced up, mega-gaming computer that you built yourself. So in that sense, I think Turkey Hunt has a valid place in the iPhone gaming world. Yes it’s a very simple game but it’s fun in a silly, lighthearted kind of way.
